Senate to Hear Why Women Deserve Better Than Abortion

Previously "Pro-Choice" Women Tell How Their
Own Abortions Changed Their Minds


WHAT: Hearing on "The Impact of Abortion on Women." Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Science, Technology and Space, chaired by Sam Brownback (KS). Women who have experienced abortion will tell their stories, and a medical expert will review the research on the physical and psychological effects of abortion.

WHO: Testimony will be presented by

Michaelene Jenkins, who brings a unique and compassionate perspective to the abortion debate as one who became pro-life due to her personal abortion experience. She is the Executive Director of the Life Resource Network, connecting women in need with the resources to help them.

Georgette Forney, who had an abortion at age sixteen and nineteen years later experienced healing, forgiveness and reconciliation. She is President of NOEL and a co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, an effort to make the public aware of the devastation abortion brings to women, men, and their families.

In addition, Dr. Elizabeth Shadigian, of the University of Michigan School of Medicine and co-author of "Long-Term Physical and Psychological Health Consequences of Induced Abortion: Review of Evidence," will testify.
