The Diary of Anne Frank -- The U.S. Catholic Conference classification is A-I -- general patronage. Not rated by the Motion Picture Association of America. The Diary of Anne Frank is a somber dramatization of the long ordeal facing the adolescent girl of the title (played by Millie Perkins), her parents and another Jewish family hiding from the Nazis in a secret room in World War II Amsterdam. The 1959 production looks at the terrible consequences of racism through the eyes of a young girl, though youngsters may need support from older members of the family in coping with story�s tense situations and menacing atmosphere. These movies have been evaluated for artistic merit and moral suitability by the media reviewing division of Catholic News Service. The reviews include the CNS rating, the Motion Picture Association of America rating, and a brief synopsis of the movie.

The classifications are as follows:

A-I -- general patronage;
A-II -- adults and adolescents;
A-III -- adults;
L -- limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling. L replaces the previous classification, A-IV.
O -- morally offensive.
