Thank you for supporting the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) in a variety of important ways!  Your endorsement of CCHD’s core mission, words of encouragement, and financial contributions are an effective means of accomplishing 4 critical outcomes.  And, your help is especially needed now, when the rate of poverty in the U.S. is increasing dramatically.  The 4 outcomes are:

Spotlighting the hard work of empowered poor and low-income people in communities around the country.

Often these stories of hope and success don’t make the evening news.  Many of the problems that people in poverty in this country confront every day are below the radar screen of the non-poor, including well educated and experienced policy makers and elected officials.     

Creating opportunities for the poor and non-poor to work together toward creative, long-term solutions to poverty in the U.S.

CCHD’s transformative education processes such as the Journey to Justice Day present unique opportunities to examine the causes and effects of poverty within low-income communities.  Additionally, transformative education creates respectful spaces for dialog and reconciliation across economic barriers. 

Leveraging the support of additional public, private, and non-profit sector partners to address root causes and systemic conditions that perpetuate poverty in this rich country. 

Self-help, community-based organizations whose projects have the support of the Catholic community are better positioned to receive the necessary support for their empowerment programs from other sources.  

Defending the gospel with courageous words and deeds.  As Jesus commanded us, “Love one another as I love you.”  (John 15:12)
